Dutch-born Gusta van Dobbenburgh has loved drawing and nature since childhood, so it is only natural that botanical art has become her passion. From 2002 to 2006 Gusta studied with Mindy Lighthipe, then director of the Botanical Illustration Program at the New York Botanical Garden. She has also taken courses with internationally acclaimed botanical art instructors Scott Rawlins, Valery Oxley, and Anne-Marie Evans. Her techniques include watercolor, gouache, colored pencil and graphite pencil. Gusta has curated international art exhibitions since 2002, and began writing art-related commentaries for the Flash, the newspaper for the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL), in 2007.
